Today some of us started again with morning runs and walks, but this time at 6AM because breakfast was a little earlier at 7AM.  After breakfast we started our two different sessions. One was a nature walk Monkey Ladder Reservation on the Earth campus, a dense rainforest with an abundance of wildlife.  One group even was lucky enough to see monkeys, lizards, spiders, frogs, and even a rare anteater climbing  a tree. The other session was at a banana planation where students learned all about the process of the banana export system. Then we just returned for lunch and some free time.

In the afternoon the whole group went to a dairy farm also on the Earth campus and a tour led by students of the university. We saw water buffalos, cows, pigs, and lambs along with how they maintain them. We learned much about their “biodigestor” systems that recycles the animal waste product into burnable methane gas that can be used for energy to power the farm. The toured ended when torrent of rain fell.

When we returned we did some quick and fun improvisation sessions which was followed by a workshop on collaborative leadership.  During dinner we were challenged to eat with fellow GYLI students who we haven’t had the chance to interact with very often and also with students at Earth University.

After dinner we did sessions we returned to split up into watch groups to discuss the 5 C’s of awareness. Each group went into a deep conversation about how color, class, culture, character, and context are involved in our lives. Finally we went over information about home stays, which we will leave for tomorrow.
