Milwaukee Dialogue Series

Outcomes for participating students and teachers:

  1. Training in cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution
  2. Training in mindfulness and stress management
  3. Chance to meet with other students on their campuses and learn about their backgrounds.   
Middle School ProgramHigh School Program
What:
1. 90 minute trainings and story exchanges among MS students from your school with others in the Milwaukee area
2. Dates to be selected by you and other host schools
3. 10-15 students and 1 teacher from each school will attend
4. Total group size will be 50-60 for each dialogue from 3-6 schools
5. GYLI will send 1-3 team members to each dialogue to provide the cross-cultual training, a short piece of mindfulness, and then facilitate the dialogue
What:
1. 90-120 minute trainings and story exchanges among HS students from your school with others in the Milwaukee area
2. Dates to be selected by you and other host schools
3. 10-15 students and 1 teacher from each school will attend
4. Total group size will be 50-60 for each dialogue from 3-6 schools
5. GYLI will send 1-3 team members to each dialogue to provide the cross-cultual training, a short piece of mindfulness, and then facilitate the dialogue

Logistics

Where:

  1. Host schools
  2. Best locations are libraries, multipurpose spaces where we can have
    1. Relative quiet
    1. Chairs arranged in small circles of 8-10 with no tables or desks in the way

What you do:

  1. Use the enclosed letter for agreement to express your commitment to this project
  2. Select 3 possible choices of dates to Host
  3. Commit 10-15 students and at least 1 teacher to attend each dialogue.  These can be the SAME participants or different ones each time.
