Beginning with a framework for Social-Emotional Learning, we will give youth workers and educators the opportunity to develop their leadership, engagement, and cross-cultural communication skills and tools.

MEET: Educators and Youth workers from around the Milwaukee area to build your network and community partnerships.  Each hosting group will also be represented by a few students, so that we can incorporate student voice into this program and our daily practice.

DO: The workshop format will be hands-on, interactive, and experiential.  We will use activities, discuss, and demonstrations to explore the areas of social-emotional learning, leadership development, and action planning.

ENGAGE: Working across lines of difference is one key skills for students and teachers alike, and the best way to build that skill in schools and youth organizations is for the adults to practice the engagement on a daily basis.  We will present a tool for engagement called the 5C’s of awareness: Color, Culture, Class, Character, Context

PLAN: Each participant will return from this workshop with a LLP–a Leader Learning Plan to implement the learning into their own daily work.  This process will help participant transfer the best element of the workshop to their own schools and communities.
