Keith A. Ashley-Institute Coordinator

Keith has taught English, ESL, and German at the middle school, high school, community college and university levels in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, California, Arizona, with the Navajo Nation, and for the Tibetan refugee community in northern India. He earned his B.A. in Journalism at the University of Kentucky, Ph.D. in German at Ohio State University, and has recently deepened his practice of Buddhism at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in Carmel Valley, California.

Keith has tried his hand at small-scale organic farming and freelance journalism, but always seems to find his way back to the classroom. He currently lives and teaches in Tucson, Arizona. He has been involved with GYLI since 2007.

(And no, he doesn’t have his own backyard chickens yet, but soon….)
